The fragile peace that briefly blanketed the Middle East has completely shattered. Following a string of hostile actions by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) against commercial shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz, the United States has officially terminated its regional ceasefire. Launching a high-intensity kinetic campaign, U.S. military forces have been executing waves of precision strikes across the Persian Gulf since last week, targeting critical military ports and deeply buried nuclear development sites.
In late June of 2026, Washington and Tehran finalized an interim Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) designed to de-escalate regional hostilities. Under this agreement, Iran explicitly committed to ensuring safe, unhindered commercial transit through the strategic Strait of Hormuz. However, the MoU disintegrated last week during a week-long domestic mourning period of the former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was eliminated on February 28, 2026 during the initial stages of America’s Operation Epic Fury (Breitbart).
According to U.S. officials, the Iranian regime quickly violated the agreement by launching drone and missile strikes against commercial vessels, including a high-profile attack on a Qatari liquefied natural gas tanker. Speaking in an interview, U.S. President Donald Trump clarified that the White House viewed the diplomatic accord as a baseline evaluation of Tehran’s reliability. “Memorandums of understanding, when you’re dealing with sleazebags, don’t mean much. It was sort of a test, and they weren’t there. They didn’t honor the test,” President Trump stated (Breitbart).
In retaliation for the maritime disruptions, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) launched massive, offensive campaigns. In a major tactical development, the U.S. military utilized unmanned surface vessels—“suicide boats”—for the first time in history to neutralize submarine and maintenance infrastructure at Iran’s primary Bandar Abbas Naval Base (i24 News). The kinetic response expanded onto the Iranian mainland. Ehsan Jahanian, the Deputy Provincial Governor of Bushehr, confirmed the widening scope of the American bombardment, noting that “Four points in the city of Bushehr were hit by enemy projectiles” (Breitbart). The city of Bushehr is particularly sensitive because it houses Iran’s only operational, civilian-monitored nuclear power facility (Breitbart).
Beyond the coastal defense systems already neutralized by U.S. precision munitions, Washington has placed Iran’s heavily fortified underground atomic infrastructure back in its sights. President Trump publicly warned that the U.S. is ready to target the deeply buried Kuh-e Kolang Gaz La mountain complex, universally referred to as Pickaxe Mountain. The fortified facility, constructed deep underneath rock faces near the previously damaged Natanz enrichment plant, avoided the heavy B-2 bomber strikes executed by the U.S. military in 2025 (World Israel News). “But Pickaxe is a possible target for a nice, big, fat shot right into the front door,” Trump declared, emphasizing that the site remains at the top of Washington’s active target listing (Breitbart).
Trump’s threat has drawn fierce pushback from Tehran’s political leadership. In an official recording broadcasted by regional outlets, Mehdi Mohammadi, a Senior Adviser to Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, insisted that the country’s armed forces have spent months preparing for open war with the United States. Defending the integrity of their underground enrichment assets, Mohammadi issued a severe warning regarding an escalation: “If the Kuh-e Kolang facility is attacked, the region will become hell, and we will destroy the region at America’s expense” (Israel Hayom).
While the regional security framework deteriorates, President Trump reinforced the geopolitical importance of the U.S. alliance with Israel. He strongly praised the firm wartime leadership of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating that their joint architectural strategy prevented a catastrophic nuclear breakout. “If I wasn’t around, or if Bibi wasn’t around, and especially the combination, Israel would not exist today,” Trump asserted. “We wouldn’t have hit them with the B-2 bombers. You know, they were going to have a nuclear weapon within two weeks — had I not hit them. . . within two to four weeks they would have had a nuclear weapon. And once they had a nuclear weapon, they would have used it. And you wouldn’t even have Israel around. . . Bibi is good,” Trump added (World Israel News). With global energy markets fluctuating rapidly and maritime transit through the Strait of Hormuz hitting historic lows (Breitbart), the White House has announced intentions to enforce a total naval blockade on Iranian exports while retracting a threat to place twenty percent protection tariffs on international cargo lines passing through the Gulf (Axios).
Blessors of Israel continues to closely monitor this developing story. Please pray for our leaders, troops, Israel and her people, along with the Iranian people.
